The Edward Jones entrepreneurial spirit led the financial-services firm to capture the No. 2 ranking among midsize companies on WorkplaceDynamics' list of top places to work in the Houston area, according to the Houston Chronicle.
In an article titled, "Edward Jones values entrepreneurial spirit," the Houston Chronicle says that the growing financial-services firm, "which has 38,000 employees and a yearly global revenue of $3.5 billion, has 250 offices and 330 employees in the Houston area, making each branch a member of a smaller community."
Each Edward Jones branch office is made up of a financial advisor and a branch office administrator. The firm is owned by associates.
Edward Jones is growing, adding branches and seeking new financial advisors who are interested in operating an entrepreneurial office with the support and benefits of one of the oldest and largest firms in the industry.
The Houston Chronicle teamed up with research partner WorkplaceDynamics to rank the area's best employers.
The top workplaces program recognizes the most progressive companies in the Houton area based on employee opinions about company leadership, compensation and training, diversity and inclusion, career development, family-friendly flexibility, and values and ethics.
The Houston Chronicle invited employers to participate in the 2011 top workplaces competition. Following the process, including a confidential survey of employees, 100 companies earned a spot in the rankings.
The Houston top workplaces honor is the most recent workplace recognition the firm has received. For the 12th year, Edward Jones was named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For in America" by FORTUNE magazine in its annual listing. The firm took the No. 11 overall spot in the 2010 FORTUNE ranking and was named to the No. 2 spot for large companies.
