How to Take the Stress Out of Sending Holiday Cards

The holidays tend to stir up our emotions – from the joys of festive environments filled with colorful decorations and delicious aromas streaming from the kitchen to the fear of experiencing another round of “holiday hand cramp” from writing and addressing your holiday cards.
From a business standpoint, if you’re sending cards to clients and/or prospects (which you should!), you may be forced to do this yourself, assign the task to your unsuspecting assistant, or pay to have the process outsourced. If you don't have a year-round customer appreciation strategy in place, this may be the only time of year you show appreciation to your clients for their business, and your clients expect to be acknowledged. This simple act of showing your appreciation is especially important in this Internet age where there’s always someone offering your products and services better, faster, and/or cheaper.  We must build relationships with our clients and let them know their business is important to us.  So how do you satisfy your clients’ expectations when you don’t have the time (and can’t afford to upset your assistant)? Sending personal holiday greetings to family and friends?  Why “recruit” or “bribe” your spouse and/or children to assist you with this task?  It takes a lot of work to get your list together, buy the cards, buy stamps, draft a holiday letter outlining key events from the year and make copies on colorful paper, get photos made and printed, and print address labels. Then there's the stress of gathering the family around the dining table and having everyone sign the cards with a colorful pen while they groan and ask ‘Are we done yet?’. Assuming your “helpers” are still speaking to you, you then arrange all the pieces in an assembly line and give everyone their assignments: fold the letter, stuff the letter inside the card, add the photo, place in the envelope, seal the envelope, add the address label and stamp. When the process is over, everyone is exhausted and happy the holidays only come once a year…but there is a better way!
