Business & Education Partnership Luncheon

The Houston West Chamber of Commerce thanks our sponsors, planning committee, and guests for making the 26th Annual Business and Education Partnership Luncheon a great success!

We were honored to be joined by our Keynote Speaker Scott McClelland, President of H-E-B Houston, and our Emcee Len Cannon, Co-News Anchor at KHOU 11. H-E-B proudly supports the outstanding educators who have dedicated themselves to making a difference in our children's lives. From the classroom to the community, H-E-B proudly answers the call by giving back over $10 million annually to Texas education. McClelland offered attendees an important remidner of the major impact the business community can have in enhancing the student experience and the effect that has on the workforce in the future.

Carmelo's Ristorante, a long-time support of the Business & Education Partnership luncheon, awarded a prize to a Barbara Bush Elementary (HISD) art class student, art teacher, and the school itself for winning the Carmelo's 35th Anniversary Birthday Card contest.

The event featured Teacher of the Year awards for primary, secondary, and post-secondary educators and Business Partnership awards for businesses who's support of West Houston students goes above and beyond - check out the full list of award winners below!

ABOUT THE EVENT
Since its inception in 1990, The Houston West Chamber of Commerce has been proud to host the annual Business & Education Partnership Luncheon, which recognizes the teachers and businesses that mentor the youth in our community. This luncheon honors outstanding local teachers from Elementary (K - 5th Grade), Secondary (6th - 12th Grade), Post-Secondary (Colleges and Universities) as well as private schools who have shown excellence in spirit, energy, enthusiasm and love of learning. Teachers from the Houston, Spring Branch, Katy and Alief School Districts are nominated, as well as private schools and post-secondary teachers from colleges in the West Houston area.

In 2004 the Houston West Chamber of Commerce added the Educational Partnership Awards as a way to recognize businesses (& non-profits) who give so generously of their time and talent to mentor, provide internships and program support (non-cash support).

Former keynote speakers at this event include Senator Dan Patrick, Larry Dierker, Dr. Rod Paige, Dr. John Eliot, Oliver Luck and Hilton Koch. Typically garnering approximately 250 attendees, this luncheon is consistently a huge success in celebration of our educators.

The teachers in our community are giving the gift of knowledge to our children, our leaders of tomorrow. They care about the success of our children, as do our business partners. It is an honor to pay tribute to these educators and community supporters.
